Specialist Training: Introduction to the Turbocharger at Kota Kinabalu Naval Base, Sabah on 20 & 21 March 2023

Day 1 of the Specialist Training: Introduction to the Turbocharger was conducted by Mr Irfan from IMGC to the participants from the Royal Malaysian Navy in Kota Kinabalu on 20th March 2023. The event was co-organized by Turbo Pacific Sdn. Bhd., IrfanMG Consultants (IMGC) and the National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM). Participants are introduced to the fundamentals of turbochargers as well as detail explanations on components of turbochargers, as well as potential turbocharger setup used in conjunction with the internal combustion engine. A real actual disassembled turbocharger was presented to enhance the participants' understanding of the theory and the concepts of turbocharger and turbocharging especially relating to the turbocharging of marine vessels' engine.

Day 2 of the training was conducted by guest speaker Lt. Commander Ahmad Firdaus Ahmad Tarmizi TLDM from the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) to the participants from the Royal Malaysian Navy at the Kota Kinabalu Naval Base, Sabah on 21th March 2023. Participants are briefed on the marine turbochargers used onboard a naval vessel in Kota Kinabalu which is coupled to the marine diesel engines. This second part of the specialist training gives on-site exposure to the participants on real marine turbocharger setup thus relating to the theories and knowledge learnt on the previous day regarding fundamentals of turbochargers.
